SCIENCE VS RELIGION

What is the appropriate role of religion in matters of science? Can religion survive science? Can both science and religion close the “GOD” gap? Are religion and science compatible? Can one embrace a scientific world view and still participate fully in one of the world's religious traditions? I asked these questions today because I WHOLE heartedly believe in faith. I'm not sure science and logic can account for all things at all times. A lot of us have some trouble dealing with the randomness of reality. Sometimes stuff just happens. There's no rhyme or reason for how life is MOST time, yet we search for some reason to make things make sense and when it CANNOT be, we go to religion. I can see why this would be a NATURAL resource, but faith AND religion are entirely different things. Faith can be in anything so when we allow it to cause us to not accept what science is telling us, is it surprising that SCIENCE & RELIGION are @ war?

Some believe that science can neither prove NOR disprove the existence of a God, so does that mean that God does not work in a scientific manner? I beg to differ; if religious persons accept the concept of God, then surely they can accept that he created man and gave him knowledge to prove OR disprove his existence…right? How does one reject science after all the good it has done for us? ESPECIALLY when religion teaches that believing in the invisible is more important than understanding the perceivable. Why does personal faith trump critical thinking?

Some try to prove the existence of God by pointing to the “PERFECTION” of the bible as a historical and prophetic document, when MOST of the stories they believe have SO many holes in them. They hold onto religious thinking that this is all a GRAND design when the sciences of biology and geology and such have provided far, far better explanations for what the GRAND design really is. Religion provides us, as individuals, with its ethical and human perspectives on civic decisions, including judgments on issues prompted by scientific discoveries.

After all, we see that science is concrete, real and true; religion is still struggling to find to find some authenticity. I guess when it comes to down to it, the feeble minded desire an easy explanation, which religion provides; and who doesn’t LOVE the easy way out? Can these two sides ever reconcile their differences? Is there room for science in religion? Is it anti-religion to be pro-science? I didn’t intend of concluding this with more questions, but life is just one BIG question after the other. But in the final analysis it is my opinion that we abandon the intellectual ball and chain of religious belief and embrace reality, enjoy the world as it is, and let go of your desire for what it is not, religion might actually have a chance…

AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH

UPON READING MY BLOG ENTRY ABOUT NOEL & I LIVING APART TWOGETHER, BLOGGER EDUARDO GUIZE SUGGESTED  THIS SONG SO I DECIDED TO POST IT...HOPE YOU LOVE IT AS MUCH AS NOEL & I DO!

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" is an R&B/soul song written by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson in 1966. The composition was first successful as a 1967 hit single recorded by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell for the Tamla (Motown) label. The song became a hit a second time in 1970, when a cover by fellow Motown artist Diana Ross became a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award.

The original 1967 version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was a top twenty hit. According to record producers, Terrell was a little nervous and intimidated during recording because she hadn't rehearsed the lyrics. Terrell recorded her vocals alone with producers Harvey Fuqua and Johnny Bristol, who added Gaye's vocal at a later date.[1] "Ain't No Mountain" peaked at number nineteen on the Billboard pop charts, and went to number three on the R&B charts.

This original version of "Ain't No Mountain", produced by Fuqua and Bristol, was a care-free, danceable, and romantic love song that became the signature duet between Gaye and Terrell. Its success led to a string of more Ashford/Simpson penned duets (including "You're All I Need to Get By", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", and "Your Precious Love").

The Gaye/Terrell version was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and is regarded today as one of the most important records ever released by Motown.

LIVING APART TWOGETHER (PART II)

I CAN NEVER KISS YOU ENOUGH
I CAN NEVER HOLD YOU ENOUGH
I CAN NEVER MAKE LOVE TO YOU ENOUGH
ALL I CAN DO IS LOVE YOU…

So this morning I drop Noel to the airport so he can spend @ least six months in St. Vincent which is his country. This is a bitter-sweet moment for me as I NEVER thought we would be doing this again, but I TOTALLY understand how he feels. From a previous entry, I blogged about how him being here without a job is just KILLING him. No matter how I try to hurry the time by, it just isn’t moving how I would like.

The last time we had to LIVE APART TWOGETHER, I knew when he was going to return…this time there isn’t a set date for his return. @ Work yesterday I sat down thinking about today and I got EXTREMELY sad. No matter how I look @ it, I can ONLY see him NOT being here…I know it is selfish to feel sad when he is doing something for him…for us…I just don’t want to be without him…It didn’t matter what I didn’t have or how crappy my day was…the ONLY thing that mattered is that I had him here waiting for me…

RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE: SEASON 2, EPISODE 1 – GONE WITH THE WINDOW

RuPaul's Drag Race is back on Logo (and VH1) and, as usual when it comes to the second season of a break-out hit that no one expected to be a hit, it's exactly the same ... and at the same time "bigger."(I get caught up a day later because we don’t have logo here in the Bahamas so I watch it on VH1).

The most jarring change is the obviously-improved budget (except when it comes to the grand prize: headlining a Drag Race tour and $25,000). The production values are much better and the sets and the runway look great.

As for the contestants, the show has done another good job of featuring a wide variety of both drag queen "styles" and personality types, although I confess didn't see any totally unique immediate stand-outs, like last year's Nina Flowers and Tammie Brown. Jujubee will surely end up being an audience favorite — she's already mine — while Morgan, Raven, Nicole Paige Brooks, Mystique, Tatianna, and, well, maybe everyone else will apparently be battling it out for the role of "uber-bitch."

The first episode's major challenge, "Gone With the Window," was ridiculously clever, asking the contestants to fashion a gown out of curtains a la Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With the Wind.

Guest judge Kathy Griffin was her usual, hilarious self, especially with her drag queen look-alike Pandora Boxx, and I really hope this is an indication that the celebrity guest judges, always stellar on this show, have more to do and say this year.

There was a hint during the previews that future judges are incorporated into the challenges themselves, the way they are on Project Runway, and this would be a terrific turn of events.

But all in all this is a FUN show that is sure to please!

HIS LOVE IS…

The word LOVE has a wide variety of connotations. To some, LOVE is merely a place where basic needs are addressed. To others, LOVE is the foundation from which they draw their strength and tranquility. Though others view LOVE as a thing inevitably linked to material things, I’ve come to see that you are SO much more than that. You’ve given me that place where I can TOTALLY be myself. You’ve made me feel safe enough to let down my guard to return to your arms day after day.

I know that the evolution of LOVE requires that I undergo transformations that uproot me from time to time. And though this movement from place to place can literally feel like I am separated from the foundations I’ve come to depend on, I know that isn’t the case. For LOVE is intimately tied to the memories that define me, so I know that EVERY second of EVERY day LOVE be that space that fulfills me! I will allow it to bring peace to me and my surroundings…For HIS LOVE IS

I WISH (TIME)

From blowing dandelion seeds into the air
To throwing a penny into a fountain,
I whisper my DEEPEST desire into the ears of the universe
ONLY time can give me the sign that I’ve been heard.

So I have to do away the mixed messages
And treat love as if straight out from the mouth of an ancient sage
And bring myself closer to escaping the cage
Would time forgive my rage?

I am rooted here on the ground.
But my spirit takes flight.
Whatever I dream,
If only in my mind…

To some LOVE is sublime
To others it's just fine
Others look for reasons to the rhyme
Me I think it’s all a matter of time…
I WISH
