PICTURE IT, YOU RECENTLY MET THIS GORGEOUS GUY WHO TOOK YOU HOME & YOU GAVE EACH OTHER THE TIME OF YOUR LIVES FOR HOURS ON END…BUT EVERY TIME YOU WENT TO KISS HIM HE PULLS AWAY…WHAT’S THAT ABOUT? FROM MY EXPERIENCE I’VE FOUND THAT KISSING IS A COMPLICATED MATTER BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF MEN OUT THERE, SO HOW DO YOU DECIPHER WHY HE WON’T LET YOUR LIPS MEET EACH OTHER? HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDER THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE HOOKED UP WITH ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MEN:

THE THUG: You’ve seen him porno movies and accept that his not wanting to kiss you is a manly thing…You can give him oral sex, he WILL poke you until dawn, but he will not reciprocate (or take it up the butt) because in his eyes that would make him less of a man. And thugs don’t play that! 

THE CLOSET CASES: A harsh name, I know, but some non-Exotics behave just like Exotics because they’re Closet Cases. Not only would servicing you be an admission of being gay (or bi, or questioning, or whatever label they’re fearful of getting) but kissing is a very intimate act. Sure, you can say a boner in the bootie is pretty dang personal, but kissing implies emotion and if you kiss a man it opens a floodgate of feelings these guys aren’t ready to handle.

THE CHEATERS: These guys are cheating on their partners so do everything except kissing, because at their core they see themselves as being good people with boundaries who just need a quick blow job to relax. Sometimes this man has a deal with his partner where he can hook up with others, but kissing isn't allowed.

THE ROMANTIC: Similar to the Cheater, only he’s saving his lips for that one true love. Seems silly—you’re more likely to hear of anal receptive sex being saved for a true love, but I’ve had my share of these men so I KNOW they exist.

THE FEARFUL: He worries about getting lip herpes; completely ignoring that oral sex can transmit more fun little critters into his body.

THE INEXPERIENCED: He can be a giver or receiver. Either he’s horrible at kissing and knows it (and probably found out in some sort of self-esteem-crushing manner), or he’s had so many hot encounters ruined by guys who can’t kiss that he doesn’t even want to mess with it.

THE REALIST: You have stink breath and this guy isn’t saying anything to be polite, but he can’t handle going near your mouth.

IF TWO MEN STARTS TO SHOW AFFECTION FOR EACH OTHER IN A PARK, @ A PARTY OR ANY OTHER PLACE IN PUBLIC, SHOULD THEIR AUDACITY BE COMMENDED OR NOT?

¡THE SACRED VOW OF LOVE

When we make THE promise of LOVE to another, a subtle yet powerful shift takes place in our souls where intentions are housed; and though speech is THE vehicle used for such a vow, the sacred vow spoken is MORE than just words. The vow of LOVE is a tool we employ in order to facilitate transformation within ourselves and an expression of will. Fulfilling this SACRED vow, whether it is as complex as "'till death do us part" or as simple as "I promise", it challenges us like NOTHING on this planet! 

Why is that the case, why does the SACRED VOW OF LOVE behave in such a ‘teeter totter’ that goes up and down sometimes with a resounding thud? I think this happens because with LOVE, the vow that has been made has to go hand in hand with the balance of the relationship. For as mere human beings we can be balanced with ‘equal and different issues’ that can cause perpetual ups and downs in our lives so IMAGINE when someone else has to be considered? However this can be overcome if two people have a DEEP love of self AND desire to be with each other for as long as they choose. Hence before we get to the VOW OF LOVE, we NEED to prepare ourselves for it! 

I find that the preparation is unprepared preparation for what comes (confusing huh?). Moreover, one rarely has clear insight into the mind of another to see how the other is feeling the love.  Two people may start in the same place internally with love but, as time travels on to another day, they usually lose sight of the moments that initially bonded them together. 

But all in all LOVE is a blessing and an asset! Too often the word is used as a trap, exercised on the negative side to manipulate, dominate and control. Love, is like a credit card that gets abused with hollow promises of ‘making it up later’. Then ‘love amnesia’ takes over as the ‘hollow I love you’s pile up along with demonstrations of forgetfulness to keep total focus on the assets. Isn’t it funny how ALL that is ill in humans can be corrected by GENUINE LOVE? Isn’t it even sadder that we trivialize the SACRED VOW LOVE in the form of sex? Until we learn that THE highest form of love is compassion, we will NEVER find ourselves nestled in the comfort of LOVE’S embrace…

So as we embark on the journey of LOVE, we need to understand that once this SACRED VOW is spoken, it becomes a part of your existence FOREVER! Your view of the world around you may change, and your predominant thoughts and feelings will no doubt evolve with time, but the spirit in which your oaths were spoken will remain unaffected. It is up to you to determine how you will stay true to your vows while your inner AND outer worlds are transformed. Your strength and character will inevitably be tested as circumstances make keeping promises increasingly challenging, but after you have shown yourself steadfast many times, your appreciation of the sanctity of LOVE’S VOW will be cemented in your mind and soul. 

¡HAPPY 234TH BIRTHDAY USA!

On July 4, 1776, 56 brave men, facing loss of property, reputation and even life, concluded several months’ work with the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  With the words of Thomas Jefferson, “these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states,” the United States of America was born.

The early days of this new declaration were full of struggle, uncertainty and bloodshed.  After gaining official independence with the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, the national struggled for another 15 years until the creation of the US Constitution.

The celebration in the US today follows the guidelines originally set down by its 2nd President, John Adams, who wrote “It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forevermore.”

We encourage you to take some time this 4th of July to remember the sacrifice and devotion of our forefathers.  Happy 234th Birthday USA! 

HERO

"Hero" is a song written and produced by American singer Mariah Carey and Walter Afanasieff, and recorded for Carey's fourth album, Music Box (1993). Its protagonist declares that even though we may feel discouraged or down at times, in reality we are "heroes" if we look inside ourselves and see our own inner strength; in time, this will help us "find the way." It was released as the album's second single in the fourth quarter of 1993 and became a worldwide commercial success. "Hero" is considered one of Carey's signature songs, and she regularly performs it when invited to charity events and closes most concerts with it. It is also known for being one of the most frequently performed songs at her concerts next to "Vision of Love". The song was nominated for the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, losing to Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do". "Hero" won two ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, one ASCAP Pop Music Award and one BMI Pop Award for the Songwriter Award.

Dustin Hoffman and Geena Davis starred in a movie for Columbia Pictures called Hero. Producer Walter Afanasieff recalls, "The people over at Epic Records were going to do the soundtrack for the film. They wanted to have Mariah sing the theme to it, but they didn't really think they could because at that time you couldn't get near Mariah to do anything film-wise. So they wanted to try the next best thing, which was to have us write something."

 

Writing and producing:

The film was screened for Afanasieff in Los Angeles and he was told that Gloria Estefan would probably be asked to sing a title theme. At the time, the producer was working with Carey on her Music Box album. "I went to New York and we were in the studio and came to a break. I was sitting at the piano and told Mariah about this movie. Within two hours, we had this incredible seed for this song, 'Hero'. It was never meant for Mariah to sing. In her mind, we were writing a song for Gloria Estefan for this movie. And we went into an area that Mariah didn't really go into - in her words, it was a little bit too schmaltzy or too ballady or too old-fashioned as far as melody and lyrics."

The pair were almost finished writing the song when Tommy Mottola, president and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment and Carey's fiance (later her husband), walked into the studio. Hearing the song they were working on, he asked them what it was, and Carey replied, "This is a song for the film Hero." Afanasieff recalls Mottola responding, "Are you kidding me? You can't give this song to this movie. This is too good. Mariah, you have to take this song. You have to do it."

Initially, Carey was guided by the subject of the film, but Afanasieff acknowledges that the artist made it a very personal song. After she decided not to give the song away, she completed the lyric and made it her own. The producer went back to the soundtrack people and told them, "You know what? I didn't come up with anything." Estefan never heard the tune was originally meant for her, and the song that ended up in the soundtrack was "Heart of a Hero", written, produced and recorded by Luther Vandross.

Afanasieff and Carey came up with a couple of different versions of "Hero" in the studio. "There was a simpler performance on tape and a more difficult one, with Mariah singing out more, with more licks. But we chose a happy medium. The song really calls for not anything really fancy. But she's always fighting the forces inside of her because she's her own devil's advocate. She wants to do something that's so over the top and use her talents and the voice she has. But she also knows she has to restrain herself and do what the music really calls for."

 

Copyright issues:

"Hero" was the subject of a copyright plagiarism case. Christopher Selletti, a former limo driver for Sly Stone, said that the lyrics were based on a poem that he showed Stone in 1991 (and that he believed Stone had shown to Carey). Carey defended herself with entries from her personal lyrics notebook, although the lyrics from the notebook were dated six weeks after the release of the film Hero (for which the song had originally been intended). Nevertheless, the $20 million lawsuit was eventually dismissed, and Selletti was forced to pay a fine to Carey. Years later Selletti launched a second lawsuit, which was also dismissed, but he has stated that he will try a third time.

 

Chart performance:

"Hero" became Carey's eighth number 1 single on the U.S Billboard Hot 100. It reached number 1 in its tenth week and spent four weeks at the top, from December 19, 1993 to January 15, 1994. It replaced "Again" by Janet Jackson, and was replaced by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting's "All for Love". It remained in the top forty for twenty-five weeks, with fourteen of those spent in the top ten. It received heavy radio airplay and was certified platinum by the RIAA. It was one of the year's biggest hits, being ranked fifth on the Hot 100 1994 year-end chart.^[4]

"Hero" also became a hit outside the U.S., reaching the top ten in the UK (where it peaked higher than "Dreamlover", the previous single from Music Box) with total sales of 270,000 units.^[5] It also reached the top ten in France, and Australia. It was more successful across Europe than "Dreamlover" by reaching the top ten in most markets, but it performed moderately in Canada compared to Carey's previous singles. "Hero" was certified platinum in Australia by ARIA, gold in New Zealand by RIANZ and silver in France by SNEP.

Doesn’t this song make you feel that you can satisfy your need for acknowledgment by rewarding yourself with acceptance and love? We can be our greatest and most generous supporter. OLDIE, BUT GOODIE: ¿HOW ABOUT SOME GAY INTELLIGENCE?

WITH SHERRI SHEPHERD GOING OFF ON GAY MEN THE WAY SHE DID THE OTHER DAY, I THOUGHT THIS ENTRY THAT I POSTED A WHILE BACK WOULD BE PERFECT TO RE-POST. I NORMALLY DON’T BLOG ABOUT THE IGNORANT THINGS PEOPLE SAY, BUT SOMETIMES CERTAIN THINGS NEED TO BE SAID…

With us living in a world where SEX, LIES & THE DOWN LOW is ever so prevalent, one would think that EVERY female would align herself with a man that has a direct link to this phenomenon, because the concept that if walks like a duck, quack like a duck…DOES NOT APPLY IN THE GAY COMMUNITY! Moreover, that dumb notion does NOT even come close to the array of men that makes up the GAY COMMUNITY. Most men do NOT ‘look’ GAY, ‘talk’ GAY or ‘act’ GAY, but they are having SEX with each other nonetheless. So having a GAY INFORMANT is ideal for women that tend to be SO clueless about we gay men.

I AM OF THE OPINION THAT MEN WOULD F&CK EACH OTHER QUICKER THAN THEY CARE TO CHASE A WOMAN! The crazy thing is that most of these men do NOT want a relationship with another man OR consider themselves GAY or BI; they just blame their double lives on those around them. Their unwillingness to address their sexual behavior is what is endangering the gay community. Some say there is a DIRECT connection between this behavior and the rise of HIV/AIDS infections for both WOMEN and MEN. Nonetheless, I don’t buy this notion, yet SO many does and bury their collective heads in the sand and base their theory on unquantifiable information. I suppose it makes sense to them because no one knows how many men are on DL, but isn’t stereotyping wrong?

When are folks ESPECIALLY women going to pay attention to the truth that is right in front of their eyes? Men of all sorts are picking up each other left N’ right and it is SO easy! How could it not be? All he has to do is take care of his home life; having SEX every Wednesday night and every Friday morning. Pays church a visit on Sunday with the family on Sunday; keeping the woman satisfied, pay the bills, and come home every night and GAY BASH here N’ there…SHE WON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT WHAT HE IS REALLY DOING. It is sad when you look on the other side of the fence and seek the mask from that angle, but how can things be fixed when both sides lack REAL GAY INTELLIGENCE? This world is hard and we just place a band aid on a wound that will never heal…Making it virtually impossible for women to open their minds to reality. THE MORE SOCIETY TRIES TO MAKE HOMOSEXUALITY A BAD THING, THE MORE & MORE SOCIETY IS GOING TO HURT ITSELF. THE COMPLEX ISSUES SURROUNDING SEXUAL IDENTITY ARE NOT GOING AWAY. SO THE SOONER WE ACCEPT THE REALITIES OF THIS WORLD, THE BETTER IT WILL BE FOR ALL OF US.
