  1. If the rich actually DID pay the same proportionately for the ride, we'd all be much better off. Unfortunately, the rich manage quite happily to hitch rides for free, i.e. many who earn over $1million a year pay Less tax than someone earning $50,000.... and the government smiles paternally at them. Until we get Congress to work for US instead of for a few megarich individuals and corporations, nothing will change. We have to get ourselves and those around us to get out and not only vote, but also confront people who are running who say things like, "When I'm President, I'll lower the price of gas to under $2.00 a gallon," or "If done responsibly, I would approve drilling for oil in the Everglades." [and never forget, "I can see Russia from my kitchen window.] Make these people back up their statements or back down
