I find myself reading the daily entries on the blog My First Gay Crush and I LOVE what they do there. Reading the stories of various men and women who reveal their first same-sex crush when they didn’t know what sexuality was all about. Ever since I started reading this blog, I’ve wondered who my first gay crush was. I keep going to the best friends that I had in various levels of my school life, but I can’t be sure who the first was. So how about you, who was your FIRST GAY CRUSH? Who was that male you found yourself fascinated with? 

REVIEW OF BRIDESMAIDS

So I made my usual pilgrimage to the movies to see a ''chick flick'', yes a chick flick,that promised to be the female equivalent of The Hangover. Though not as raunchy it was still hilarious and funny.

Bridemaids  stars Kristin Wiig who plays Annie, whose life is a complete mess and can't seem to catch a break. As Lillian,Annie's best friend is about to get married she simply must serve as maid-of-honor, despite the hurdles of the expense,bizarre rituals and the actions of an overzealous yet seemingly more appropriate new friend.

What's Good About the Movie:

The entire cast was excellent with great comedic timing and gelled perfectly together. 

The physical comedy was simply brilliant of which Kristin Wiig's and Melissa McCarthy as Meagan who played Lillian's sister-in-law must be given special mention.

What's Bad about the Movie:

Yes there were some scenes that were a bit unrealistic- the scene at the bridal store comes to mind but it's fiction and comedy and its purpose is to entertain and make us laugh.

Overall Grade: A-,definitely one of the best comedies of the year.

¡HAPPY ONE YEAR JOB ANNIVERSARY TO ME!

Forgive me if I've been through this before, but I feel it needs repeating: my mind is not my friend. Its ability to look into the environment, perceive "what is" and relate it back to me is cheerfully inadequate (is that possible?) As a result, I find myself listening to this sort of interior dialogue: "Hmm, the manager I work with for a year now, will tell me that he doesn't like it here (for the millionth time)." I guess he does that because he is lazy and if he liked it here he wouldn't be. Maybe I should just tell him I'm sick and tired of the endless belly aching and leave him holding the bag (to be a fly on the wall…) Yeah, that's what I'll do. I'll quit and write blogs... that will never reach anyone and I'll wind up one of those bitter, old guys who sits on the beach selling coconuts complaining about how bad the workforce is and how much better it was in my day. So, no, I guess I won't quit, but I won't take any of his comments seriously. Besides, I am not much of a coconut tree climber. Maybe I can be a prima donna, insanely difficult; better yet, I'll simply roll over and keep the company from falling off the face of the earth. Covert apathy, that's the ticket! But alas he gets me because I care. HAPPY ONE YEAR JOB ANNIVERSARY TO ME!

A MEDITATION ON MOURNING - I LOVE THIS

When I die give what’s left of me away

to children and old men who want to die.

And if you need to cry,

cry for your brother walking the street beside you.

and when you need me, put your arm around anyone

and give them what you need to give me.

I want to leave you something,

something better than words or sounds,

look for me in the people I have known or loved,

and if you cannot give me away,

at least let me live in your eyes and not in your mind.

You can love me better by letting hands touch hands,

and by letting go of children that need to be free.

Love doesn’t die, people do

so  when all that is left of me is love,

give me away.

¿DOES RELIGION HAVE POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE INFLUENCE ON THE WORLD?

Does religion has a positive or negative influence on the world? Does it provide comfort, hope and social cohesion? Does it promote gullibility, intolerance, the rejection of reality in favor of belief? If your response is both, which is more common, or more important? Can the good things done in the name of religion really be chalked up to religious belief itself, or would people have done them anyway, and religion just gave them the inspiration? What about the bad things done in the name of religion?

I say religion as a whole has an interesting influence on human society and no matter of this issue you take, our emotions will get in the way of reason and understanding. When persons argue over whether some piece of religious doctrine is plausible or not, misses the purpose of the doctrine’s intent. And that makes for some very muddled, meandering, frustrating debates. I am often the one sitting on the fence because I feel that it is worth remembering that each side could theoretically be right and wrong about the other. But if I had to choose, I’d say that religion has a harmful influence on the world.

WALKING ON SUNSHINE

"Walking on Sunshine" is a song written by Kimberley Rew for Katrina and the Waves' 1983 eponymous debut full-length album. A rerecorded version was released on the band's 1985 self-titled album as the album's second single (see 1985 in music) and reached No. 4 in Australia, No. 9 in the United States, and No. 8 in the United Kingdom. It is the Waves' first U.S. top 40 hit, and their biggest success in the UK until "Love Shine a Light" (1997). Conceived of as a ballad, Katrina decided the better part of valor was to belt the song out.^[1]

2010 was the 25th anniversary of the release of "Walking on Sunshine" and a series of back-catalog re-releases and a re-recorded version of the track are being released.^[2] A free download of one of the tracks from Kimberley Rew's solo album 'Bible of Bop' was given away in March 2010 from the band's website. ^[3]

Royalties from airplay and advertisements of "Walking on Sunshine" has been extremely high. Katrina and the Waves kept the publishing rights and the royalties that typically go to the songwriter have been divided among the band members, though Katrina Leskanich was fired from the band in 1998. Estimates are that the song has earned $1 million per year for the ten years ending in 2010. According to a former employee of EMI, "Walking on Sunshinewas the crown jewel in EMI's catalog," and that it was one of EMI's biggest earners from advertisers.^[4]

The music video depicts the band performing live at a London concert. Katrina herself is either with or not with them, but either dancing in her apartment, or walking through Hyde Park on a cloudy day, past an English prison, the Tower Bridge, a cliff and Old St. Paul's. She catches up with the others and feeds ducks (one of them eats the leftovers, referring to the Waves). Katrina returns home and cleans her face using cotton.

People really need help but may attack if you help them. Help people anyway.
